As my husband and I grow older, the saying “less is more” resonates with us more than ever. When it comes to alcohol — quality over quantity has become a guiding principle for our lives. Having spent nearly half of our lives together, it’s no surprise that our tastes have aligned, including our drink preferences. What used to be a debate of red or white wine has shifted to rye or bourbon, and we find that one drink each is just enough. Quality over quantity indeed!
A Perfectly Crafted Cocktail: The House Manhattan
About a year ago, my husband Eric, crafted a cocktail that marked our first true appreciation for brown liquor. “Eric’s Sipper” is what we affectionately call this cocktail at home. It has since become a staple in our home bar for those evenings when a sipper sounds good. Whether served over ice or up in a coupe glass, this drink has become a house favorite.
Essential Ingredients for the House Manhattan
This cocktail is simple yet sophisticated, relying on high-quality ingredients. Be sure to include a quality rye or bourbon of your choice, a touch of vermouth, and don’t forget the garnish—whether it’s a cherry or an orange peel, it makes all the difference.
Cheers,
Christina
